Project Raptor is the accumulative effort of 4 years of research & development in the Light Electric Vehicle
(LEV) field. Its development has foreseen numerous industry changes, implementing and developing new in-house technologies, paving the way for the industry and creating a pathway for continued success in innovation at EM. It is with great pleasure that we have seen this project from conceptualization at the dawn of EM to full-scale production. The goal of Project Raptor is to showcase what is possible with the current LEV technologies, making way for a new era of vehicles to diminish the current adversities we face in operation-related emissions from ICE vehicles. Via our success in industry-leading research, the path that Project Raptor has led will lead to a decrease in total CO2e Emissions (g/mi) by 60%, reducing congestion by a further 40%.
Research partners of EM, Highvoltagekits.com, did an excellent video summary on Project Raptor, outlining its development & purpose in solving commuting-related emissions generated by ICE vehicles. The summary also includes real-world ride footage in a suburban setting, underscoring the intent of Project Raptor's development.
Project Raptor is powered by a 15kw-rated IPM DC motor, with a custom-designed gear reduction designed for operation efficiency. The transmission is due to be overhauled as a relationship with Gates © is forming to create new Carbon-Drive belt-drive transmissions for LEVs.
Powering Project Raptor is a 3.3Kwh Sony VT6-based pack, enclosed in steel, set in a 20s 14p Configuration
Project Raptor's powertrain is managed by the 4000 series of controllers by Accelerated Systems Incorporated, out of Waterloo Canada, with the tune provided by our research partners, Highvoltagekits.com. This 400 Series fo controller has a nominal voltage of 72V, delivering 450A DC of power via a Sinusoidally Feild Oriented Control Peripheral (FOC).
In addition to the commuting-related emission abatement goals of Project Raptor, Project Raptor served as the headway vehicle for the development of the 12V V2 DOT Street Legal System, a derivative of the first-generation system that previously existed on Project Raptor. Throughout its development, Project Raptor was utilized in the testing process to ensure quality and reliability in the final delivery. Project Raptor would not be complete without the intense engineering that went behind the 12V V2 DOT Street Legal System.
