Design Standards

EM's eMobility design standards are heavily influenced by DFx. principles and industry-standard frameworks incorporating our four-facet design philosophy:

  1. Utility & Feasibility: Does the developed solution meet the functional requirements of the problem statement? Does the developed solution address the concerns of the end user in a turnkey manner? Is the developed solution scalable? Does it meet the budget, timeline, and physical constraints of the business and respective manufacturing process?
  2. Usability: Does the developed solution integrate into the ecosystems present in a turnkey fashion? Does the developed solution feel natural, comfortable, and enjoyable to use by the user? Is the UX/UI of the product intuitive? 
  3. Aesthetic Integrity: Does the developed solution encompass the brand image of the respective company? Does the developed solution look aesthetically pleasing? How does the developed solution influence brand perception? Does the design language communicate trust and support?
  4. Safety: Does the developed solution pose any risks through PDM or FMEA analyses to the end user? Does the developed solution meet all regulatory and certification guidelines? What are the potential downstream failures that can occur with non-standard use cases?

Use Cases

The use cases of eMobility generally include, but are not limited to:

  •  Energy-Sustainable Transportation: Reducing the energy consumption of existing and new transportation methods through BEV technologies.
  • Cost-Sustainable Transportation: Reducing the costs of existing BEV methods through sustainable engineering and expanding the electrification of ICE vehicles. 
  • Emissions Compliance: Reducing the carbon footprint of existing and newly developed transportation solutions through turnkey electrification.

Turnkey Ecosystems in eMobility

At EM, turnkey ecosystems are our primary design language, and they are no less integral than in eMobility. We integrate turnkey ecosystems into eMobility predominantly in two ways:

  • Engineering into existing ecosystems: Integrating the design language, cross-linking, and interfaces of an existing product line/ecosystem into the respective modernizations in a turnkey nature -- seamlessly and with end-user experience in mind.
  • Ecosystem generation: Configuring modernization for eventual differentiations, product lines, or integration into future ecosystems with turnkey design as the centerpiece for integration and user experience design.
