Challenges Clients Face

Challenges Clients Face

Challenges Clients Face

Overwhelming Technical Debt

  • Industrial systems, especially legacy systems, are often tied down by rigid monolithic architectures, obsolete frameworks, unclear dependency chains, and tangled business logic, which make partial refactoring time-consuming, expensive, and risky.

Compliance

  • Over a product's lifecycle, the regulatory guidelines and compliance that the product must uphold change frequently, leaving existing teams scrambling for solutions and distant ones befuddled. Ensuring compliance with growing and changing regulations becomes a burden many teams choose not to face at the end of a product's lifecycle, leading to discontinuance and a lack of support.

Productivity and Bandwidth

  • Operational teams can easily get overloaded and see productivity dips amid ever-changing deadlines, constraints, and project overload. Managing team burnout and productivity is often costly and difficult given the resources many managers are supplied with.
  • Many operational teams find themselves tasked with mountainloads of work, better suited for larger teams, who can move more agilely to meet the specific deadlines. Improper bandwidth allocation can lead to burnout and even employee turnover, at great cost to the company.

EM Solves Them

Challenges Clients Face

Challenges Clients Face

Project Flexibility & Technical Expertise

  • With 100+ engineers at the ready, each with industry-specific skills and years of experience, and as developers of industry foundations, EM is well-equipped with the resources and frameworks to transform a project from dust to diamonds.

Prebuilt Compliance Frameworks & Solutions Sets

  • EM has an expansive catalog of prebuilt compliance frameworks & solution sets for the common and niche regulations, certifications, and struggles many projects must overcome, allowing clients who implement EM's services to strategically lower downtime, cost overhead, and productivity.
  • For non-standard regulatory matters and problems, EM's technical flexibility allows the rapid development of the processes and standards necessary for project success.

Agile Bandwidth Scaling & FSE Support

  • EM dynamically scales with your team to achieve the optimal engineering bandwidth that alleviates employee burnout, meets deadlines, and strategically reduces cost overhead.
  • EM supports your team with hybrid and full project offloading, ensuring that subassemblies, parts, and projects all fit turnkey into their respective integration points, at equal or higher quality than an OEM team.
  • EM supports teams from ideation through end-of-life production across our six disciplines, ensuring that engineering teams are supported on thier internal disciplines and leverage EM's cross-functional team expertise to systematically reduce overhead, burnout, and deliver project success.

Case Studies

EM is currently revising its case study and portfolio formatting. We apologise for the interruption. Updated case studies will be available shortly. Thank you for your understanding.

Design Standards

EM's industrial equipment design standards are heavily influenced by DFx. principles and industry-standard frameworks incorporating a four-facet design philosophy:

  1. Integration Feasibility:  Do the services rendered integrate turnkey into the original ecosystems or allow for the future implementation of such? Do the services rendered accomplish the business developmental, financial, and scalability goals of the respective project?
  2. Utility: Does the equipment developed meet the functional requirements of the problem statement? Does the equipment address the pain points of the application in a turnkey manner?
  3. Compliance: Does the equipment effectively comply with all regulations and certifications required in the respective industry? Does the equipment inhibit compliance obsolescence, allowing room for continual improvement as necessary?
  4. Preventive Maintenance (PDM): Does the equipment effectively combat all foreseeable PDM cases in a turnkey manner? Does the equipment allow for the PDM cases to fluctuate given real market data?

Use Cases

The use cases of industrial equipment development generally include, but are not limited to:

  •  Legacy Equipment Modernization: Extending the lifecycle of current equipment at or near the end of their respective lifecycles or reviving equipment that has been discontinued or retired, internally or externally.
  • Leveraging New Technology: Modernizing existing equipment using new technologies to regain efficiency, cost sustainability, or compliance.
  • Emergency Inoperability or Obsolescence: Rapidly innovating to solve an acute destabilization in the supply chain or operability.
  • New Equipment Development: Developing new equipment to solve an industry struggle or a new market sector.

Turnkey Ecosystems in Industrial Equipment

At EM, turnkey ecosystems are our primary design language, and they are no less integral than in industrial equipment. We integrate turnkey ecosystems into industrial equipment predominantly in two ways:

  • Engineering into existing ecosystems: Integrating the design language, cross-linking, and interfaces of existing equipment lines/ecosystems into the new equipment design in a turnkey nature -- seamlessly and with end-user experience in mind.
  • Ecosystem generation: Configuring modernization for eventual differentiations, product lines, or integration into future ecosystems with turnkey design as the centerpiece for integration and user experience design.

Environmental Impacts

Restabilizing the environmental impact of industrial equipment through modernization is a primary goal of many clients, citing factors such as energy consumption, GHG, and e-waste. Due to the rapid advancements in supply chain architecture, manufacturing, and design language itself, EM can save, on average, 85-90% of CO2 emissions across the respective product lifecycle of modernized equipment, allowing clients to capitalize on new markets and comply with ever-changing regulations while maintaining profitability.
